Scope and contact

This Privacy Policy explains how HomeHeroLocal LLC handles personal information through its website, mobile application, marketplace, support, and security services in supported Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC markets. HomeHeroLocal LLC is responsible for the practices described here. Contact legal@homeherolocal.com with a privacy question or request.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, including name, email address, password-derived security records, role, business and profile details, service categories and areas, descriptions, availability, photos, requests, messages, reviews, feedback, support communications, legal acceptances, and account preferences. Heroes may provide business contact, service, experience, license, permit, registration, or insurance statements, but HomeHeroLocal does not independently verify those statements.

We collect marketplace and technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as searches, profile and deliberate photo interactions, quote and conversation activity, notification state, authentication devices, trusted-browser and session records, approximate network and device information, timestamps, security events, language, and app version. We minimize engagement measurement, apply deduplication and aggregation controls, and do not use it to identify Customers publicly.

Address or location information may be provided to resolve service markets, facilitate a request, or support mapping. Exact Hero coordinates remain server-side; public map displays use approximate service-area locations. Private messages and private media are application data and are not public profile content or part of legal-acceptance evidence.

How we use information

We use personal information to create and secure accounts; verify email; display marketplace profiles; match service areas and categories; enable searches, requests, conversations, reviews, notifications, and support; administer free-beta access and future package preferences; prevent abuse; investigate security or safety events; maintain acceptance records; comply with law; and understand and improve marketplace reliability.

HomeHeroLocal does not use a saved package preference as payment consent, does not process Customer-to-Hero payments, and does not use marketplace engagement to create a payment or billing event.

How information is disclosed

We disclose information to other users only as needed for public profiles and requested marketplace interactions. A Hero profile may display business identity, description, service categories, approximate markets, availability, photos, ratings, and reviews. Customers and Heroes may see information exchanged in their authorized conversations or requests.

OCI cloud computing and private object storage and Oracle database services process account, profile, marketplace, message, private-media, security, and legal-record data needed to host the application. Google Maps, Places, and Geocoding services process address, search, or location inputs needed to resolve and display service markets. The configured SMTP email provider processes recipient names, email addresses, message content, and delivery metadata for account, security, and transactional email. If you register a mobile push token and push delivery is enabled, Expo processes the token, notification content, and delivery metadata. Network, browser, operating-system, and app-store providers may process technical information under their own terms when you use their services.

HomeHeroLocal does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for third-party targeted advertising or cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not provide Customer or Hero profiles, messages, or precise location information to data brokers.

Cookies and local storage

We use session, security, trusted-browser, language, and necessary preference technologies to keep users signed in, protect accounts, remember choices, and operate the service. We do not use these technologies to sell personal information or provide third-party targeted advertising.

Retention

We retain account information while needed to operate the service. You may initiate permanent account deletion in Security on the website or mobile app, using your current password and explicit confirmation. No administrator approval is required. Account access ends and signed-in devices are logged out when your request is accepted. Cleanup removes your account, profile, chats, requests, uploaded files, reviews including written comments and star ratings, ordinary legal-acceptance history, and associated security and safety records. Shared records are handled without deleting other people’s accounts.

After cleanup completes, we keep only a random deletion request reference, dates, and outcome for 90 days, then delete that receipt. Temporary cleanup records are removed when their work finishes. We do not keep a full deleted-account archive. If a Customer confirmed a completed job, a surviving Hero may retain only an anonymous aggregate lifetime completed-job total. This total contains no individual job record, Customer identity or reference, review score or text, date, location, or service category. It does not restore the Customer’s history and is removed when the Hero profile is deleted.

Specific additional records are retained only where a documented legal obligation or valid preservation hold requires them. Only the affected records and necessary restricted, scrubbed links remain; unrelated data is still deleted. Cleanup begins on the next scheduled run while the database and scheduler are available. Storage failures or specific holds may delay completion. Keep your request reference and contact legal@homeherolocal.com for updates. A completion email is attempted without retaining your email address for delivery retries. Backups, delivered emails, and service-provider logs follow their separate limited retention and deletion processes.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information, including access controls, protected credentials, encrypted transport, private storage for marketplace media, and security logging. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and HomeHeroLocal cannot guarantee absolute security. Report a suspected security issue to legal@homeherolocal.com.

Your choices and requests

You may update many account and profile fields in the service. Subject to identity verification, applicable law, and permitted exceptions, you may ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information; access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of it; identify the categories of third parties that receive it; or appeal a denied privacy request by emailing legal@homeherolocal.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right. We may request information reasonably needed to verify and process the request.

You may manage available notification and device settings. Transactional or security communications needed to operate an active account may not be optional. Because we do not sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising, HomeHeroLocal does not currently offer an opt-out for those practices.

Children

HomeHeroLocal accounts and account-only services are for adults age 18 or older. We do not knowingly offer accounts to children. Contact legal@homeherolocal.com if you believe a child provided personal information through an account.

DMV privacy rights

Residents of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC may have additional rights under applicable privacy and consumer laws. Eligibility and exceptions may differ by jurisdiction and by whether a law applies to HomeHeroLocal. Nothing in this Policy limits a right that cannot lawfully be waived.

Changes

We may update this Policy prospectively as the service or law changes. We will post the new version and provide additional notice or request renewed acknowledgment when appropriate. We will not silently rewrite a version preserved with legal-acceptance evidence.

Safety reports and blocks

You may report a message, review, profile, or uploaded content and block another user through the available marketplace controls. Blocking limits communication and contact between the accounts; it does not cancel an agreement for work or determine whether a job was completed. Authorized safety staff may inspect the reported content, relevant account context, and the information you supply to investigate a report, remove content, restrict an account, or respond. Private messages and media are not made public by a report. Reports are not emergency assistance; contact the appropriate emergency service for immediate danger.

We use limited text checks to prevent identified objectionable content from being posted and staff review of new public media before publication. These measures do not guarantee that every harmful item will be detected. Existing content may be reported for review. Safety records are access-restricted and removed with associated account deletion except where a specific documented legal obligation or preservation hold applies.
